Spice Girls were one of the most memorable girl groups growing up. I remember jumping on the bed on beat to ‘Wannabe.’ I thought well… what if they were South Asian?! I had to recreate the iconic girl group in South Asian clothing.
Scary Spice – I had this obsession with animal print (I still do). I ended up designing this wide legged printed leopard jumpsuit, so I can wear to a wedding reception and dance my heart out. Sometimes lehengas and sarees are too hard to maintain during a reception where you just want to let loose! This jumpsuit has a high cowl neck with an embroidered sequin belt to keep the South Asian flare. I added some cute space buns and a dark purple lip and this screams Scary Spice to me!
Ginger Spice – Red, white, and blue! I always saw Ginger sporting the England flag as a part of her styling. I knew I had to do the same. I had this beautiful georgette red saree with white sequins. I paired it with a blue sequin crop top from Forever 21. Large curls with lots of volume and a red lip. I found a fun ribbon to add as a bracelet. It tied everything together for this look.
Posh Spice – I think out of all of them, Posh was closest to my style. She is edgy wearing leather as a blouse. I paired this with a black ruffle saree, straight hair, a nude glossy lip, and a pout! I found this diamond choker and large black and white jhumkas to add to her drama!
Sporty Spice – I knew I had to wear a sports bra as a blouse for her. She would totally do it right!? I feel like she would be coming straight from working out trying to go to an event. I wore a midi blue cotton lehenga skirt on the bottom with the dupatta covering up. Jewelry is multi colored and silver! If I had to guess, she would be wearing some cool kicks too.
Baby Spice – Silk sarees are a thing, but silk lehengas I think are even better! Baby pink is totally Baby Spice! Some pigtails, light pink lipstick, and gold jhumkis will bring everything together. The dupatta on this outfit is amazing. The threadwork alone makes this outfit stand out!
